Volunteer Information

If you are interested in volunteering at the food closet,

please fill out the Volunteer Application and sign up for the next available shift.

Please text April, Director of Operations, at 916-287-1358 with any questions.

SCFM youth volunteers between the age of 10* and 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times and/or be part of an organized group with adequate supervision. Youth volunteers between 14 and 18 must receive parental permission (clink for form) before volunteering at SCFM.

*Children under the age of 10 are not allowed to volunteer at the food closet.

ALL REQUESTS TO COMPLETE COURT-ORDERED COMMUNITY SERVICE MUST BE MADE THROUGH THIS LINK AFTER COMPLETING AN APPLICATION.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT WITHOUT RECEIVING APPROVAL FIRST. ANY SHIFTS COMPLETED WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL WILL NOT RECEIVE CREDIT FOR COURT.

Volunteer Opportunities

Available Shifts/Tasks:

AM Shift (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.)**

Work in Food Closet Sorting Food, Stocking Shelves or Filling Bags with Food
Cleaning and Maintaining Facilities

PM Shift (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m.)**

Check-in Station- Checking in Clients
Filling Bags with Food for Clients
Sorting Produce and Bread
Loading Food into Clients' Vehicles
Restocking Shelves
Cleaning Facilities

Full-Day Shift (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.)**

Includes tasks from shifts listed above as well as other activities as needed.

Wednesday Evening Shift(4:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m.)

**IF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO WORK THE ENTIRE SHIFT YOU SIGN UP FOR, PLEASE TEXT THE DIRECTOR TO NOTIFY US THE SHIFT WILL BE SHORT. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT THROUGH HANDS ON SACRAMENTO IF YOU ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE FULL SHIFT.

IF YOU NEED TO CANCEL YOUR SHIFT THROUGH HANDS ON SACRAMENTO, PLEASE DECLINE YOUR SHIFT ASAP TO ALLOW SOMEONE ELSE TO SIGN UP.

4. Donation Pick-ups (Monday-Friday 7:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m.)

Costco Pick Up (Monday-Friday 8:30-9:30)	- Use Food Closet Truck to go to Costco on Auburn Blvd - Load Food into Truck, Return and Unload at the Food Closet
Walmart Neighborhood Market Pick Up (Monday-Friday 8-9)	- Use Own Vehicle to go to Walmart Neighborhood Market on Sunrise Bl - Load Food into Vehicle, Return and Unload at the Food Closet
Grocery Outlet Pick Up (Wednesday 8-9)	- Use Own Vehicle to go to Grocery Outlet on Greenback Ln - Load Food into Vehicle, Return and Unload at the Food Closet
Safeway Pick Up (Monday, Wednesday,Friday 8-8:30)	- Use Own vehicle to go to Safeway at Greenback Lane/San Juan Av - Helper to Go With the Driver - Load Food into Vehicle, Return, Unload at the Food Closet
Raley's Pick Up (Monday-Friday 9:30-10:00)	- Use Own Vehicle to go to Raley's on San Juan Ave - Helper to Go With the Driver - Load Food into Vehicle, Return and Unload at the Food Closet
FoodMaxx Pick Up (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 7-8)	- Use own vehicle to go to Food Max on Sunrise Blvd - Load food into vehicle, Return and Unload at Food Closet
Walmart Store Pick Up (Monday/Wednesday/Friday 10:30)	- Use Food Closet Truck to go to Walmart on Auburn Blvd - Load Food into Truck, Return and Unload at the Food Closet
Olive Garden Pick Up (Thursday 9)	- Use Own Vehicle to go Pick up Product from Olive Garden (Sunrise Blvd) and Deliver to Food Closet

7-11 Stores Pick Up (Monday-Friday 9:00-10:00)	- Use Own Vehicle to Pick up Product and Deliver to the Food Closet - Auburn/Greenback store 9:00 - Auburn/Van Maren store 9:30
